Implants

A dental implant is a titanium post (like a tooth root) that is surgically positioned into the jawbone beneath the gum line that allows your dentist to mount replacement teeth or a bridge into that area.

The material used is bio inert and biocompatible with the patient. Made of specially processed titanium, in order to be received by the organism and to be integrated into the bone. They are root-shaped.

Conditions of implant placement:

• Healthy bone in the matter of height, thickness, density (can be tested through panoramic or computed tomography)
• The patient must not suffer from gingivitis or periodontitis
• The patient must be highly concerned with his/her oral hygiene
• The patient must not suffer from serious medical conditions, such as uncontrolled diabetes, or autoimmune diseases (e.g. lupus erythematosus, scleroderma)
• The patient must not suffer from hyperparathyroidism

Procedure:

• The implants are placed with local anesthesia in just one visit, and in a painless way
• After that, the doctor and the patient wait for the body of the maxilla for 4 to 6 months and the mandible for 2 to 3 months, for the implant to attach to the bone
• At the end of the required time, a crown or a porcelain bridge is placed
